Peer Review and Editorial Process

OncoIntelligence Journal is committed to a fair, rigorous, and timely editorial process that supports the publication of high-quality scholarly work in oncology and related biomedical fields. All manuscripts submitted to the journal are evaluated on the basis of scientific merit, originality, methodological soundness, ethical integrity, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope.

Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment by the Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, or an assigned editorial team member. At this stage, the manuscript is evaluated for scope, originality, scientific relevance, adherence to the journal’s submission requirements, and compliance with ethical and reporting standards. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s basic requirements may be returned to the authors for correction before peer review or may be declined without external review.

Type of Peer Review

OncoIntelligence Journal operates a double-blind peer review process. In this system, reviewers do not know the authors' identities, and authors do not know the reviewers' identities. The purpose of peer review is to ensure that published work is scientifically sound, ethically conducted, clearly presented, and relevant to the field.

External Review Process

Manuscripts that pass initial editorial screening are assigned to independent expert reviewers with appropriate academic or clinical expertise. The journal normally seeks the opinion of at least [two] reviewers for each manuscript. Reviewers are asked to assess the originality, scientific significance, study design, data quality, statistical analysis where applicable, interpretation of results, appropriateness of references, and overall contribution of the manuscript to the literature.

Reviewer Selection and Confidentiality

Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise, publication record, and professional suitability. The editorial team takes reasonable steps to avoid conflicts of interest in reviewer assignment. All manuscripts under review are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality, use the manuscript only for the purpose of review, and refrain from sharing or discussing the work with others unless authorized by the editor.

Editorial Decisions

Based on the reviewer reports and editorial assessment, the journal may issue one of the following decisions:

Accept as submitted
Accept with minor revisions
Reconsider after major revisions
Reject

The final decision on each manuscript rests with the Editor-in-Chief or the designated handling editor. Editorial decisions are based on scientific and ethical considerations and are independent of commercial, institutional, or personal interests.

Revisions

Authors invited to revise their manuscripts should submit a revised version together with a clear, point-by-point response to each reviewer and editorial comment. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers or assessed directly by the editorial team, depending on the extent of the revisions requested.

Timelines

The journal aims to provide an initial editorial decision within 3-10 days of submission and, where peer review is initiated, a first peer-review decision within 3-5 weeks. The time required for publication after acceptance depends on revision quality, editorial processing, and production scheduling. While the journal strives for efficiency, editorial rigour and publication quality take priority.

Special Issues and Invited Content

Manuscripts submitted to special issues, thematic collections, or invited sections are subject to the same standards of scientific quality, editorial independence, and ethical review as regular submissions. Guest editors, where appointed, act under the supervision of the journal’s editorial leadership.

Appeals

Authors who believe that a decision was based on a factual misunderstanding, a major procedural error, or an unfair evaluation may submit a reasoned appeal to the editorial office. Appeals must be evidence-based and respectful. The journal reserves the right to uphold, revise, or reaffirm the original decision after further editorial consideration.
